Mission 4 – Confrontation
Walkthrough
All the guards in this mission are
wearing heavy-duty armour and can't be blackjacked so you need to ghost
through quite a bit of this mission.
Go to the top of the stairs and read the notice on the wall. So the
study will be under guard unless a lot of treasures go missing? Perhaps
that can be arranged!
Wait in the shadows near the door on the south side and take a
purse (+100) from a guard who patrols up the stairs and through the
hallways. Continue to wait by the door and eventually
either a maid or the housekeeper will appear. They may be going into
the room to read the housekeeping duties for the day (these are posted
on the wall) or they may be on their way out. Snag
Lady Drakon's Room Key from either then have a
look around the room.
Drakon's Sword
Enter the dressing room area in the corner, read Lady Drakon's diary,
which is sitting on the shelves and you'll learn this mysterious Milly
has been taken to Drakon's study. Grab the ring of
Bedroom Keys that is hanging low down on the side of the
bookcase. Pick up the silver locket (+20 = 120) and a mirror (+50 =
170) that are lying on the dresser then pick open the small
jewel box to discover a gold necklace (+200 = 370). Return the main
section of the bedroom and take a purple urn (+100 = 470) and 2 purple
vases (+100 = 570) from the dresser at the south end. Open
the door you entered by and check to make sure the hallway is clear
then scuttle across to the double doors to Drakon's bedroom. Use the
Bedroom Keys to unlock them and get inside before the guards
show up.
Walk over to the desk and read the book which tells you that Lord
Sharpe has been imprisoned in a metal body by someone named Harsha and
that the police's inside man was Durbage. Objective
complete! If you would like to release Sharpe from his torment,
push the button on the wall and he'll be destroyed. Another guard will
quickly take over his patrol route.
Collect 2 small silver statues (+70 = 640) from the desk, 2 gold
candlesticks (+100 = 740) from the fireplace mantle and a painting
(+100 = 840) from the south wall. The Cellblock
key is hanging on the wall behind it. Mantle up on top of the
bed canopy then pick open the small box hidden here to acquire a gold
coinstack (+100 = 940). Jump back down, open the large chest
at the foot of his bed and inside you'll find the sword that is called Drakon's Edge (+150 = 1090). Objective
complete!
Return to the hallway and walk south past the first door on the right,
which leads back into Lady Drakon's bedroom. Unlock the next door with
the Bedroom key ring. This is Nurse Kindly's room and
it's very dark and spooky. Feel your way along the right-hand wall
until you reach a small alcove where you can collect 2 skulls (+100 =
1190) and then open the box between them to find Gwen's
Bedroom key. Grab a dagger (+15 = 1205) from the mantelpiece and
get out of here.
Straight ahead is the door to Gwen's room. Unlock it with the key you
just found and enter the room. As you do, you'll see an apparition of
some sort kneeling by the footstool. She runs off as soon
as you enter and disappears through the clothes hanging in the SW
corner.
Look behind the left-hand side of the bed headboard to find Gwen's real
diary and you'll see she no longer totally trusts her old nurse. The
very last entry mentions that she's locked in but it
obviously doesn't worry her a bit so there must be another way out.
Head over to the corner where you saw the apparition
disappear, pick up some flares from a box then crouch and push through
the clothing into a hallway beyond. You've just found
Secret #1!
Walk along the hallway, through an attic room, along another hall and
into another attic room. Squeeze in behind the armoire and you'll find
a doorway. Go through, turn right and descend the stairs.
Crawl through the hole in the wall at the bottom and you'll emerge
under a table. Sit here for a bit until you get a feel for the patrol
patterns then, when the way is clear, collect a gold wine
bottle (+50 = 1255), a gold goblet (+25 = 1280) and a tray (+50 = 1330)
from the table. Walk west into the dining room but put out some of the
lights first as there are 2 people sitting at the table.
Quickly go through the door on the left into another hallway.
Turn right and go down the stairs to the prison. Look through the bars
to make sure the very large jailer is not in the room then use the
Cellblock key to unlock the door and sneak in. Read the book
on the table and you'll find out that Jack is alive! You'll receive a
new objective to get him out.
Walk along in front of the jail cells and duck into
the one on the right that has no door. Pick up a pitiful scrap of paper
buried in the muck and you'll read that the prisoner had a
valuable bag of spice. A more thorough search through the filth will
bring to light the spice bag (+40 = 1370) which is Secret
#2.
Jack is locked up in Cell 4 so you'll need to find the key before you
can release him. Enter the storage room across the hall from his cell
and help yourself to a bunch of weaponry that will surely
come in handy. Don't miss the healing potions sitting on the shelf.
There's also a Power Shield potion but you can't pick it up. When
Crouch, the jailer, heads back to the guard room, leave the
storage room, walk to the corner and turn right (N). Enter the torture
room at the far end, take 2 fire arrows from the fire and a gold wine
bottle (+50 = 1420) from the table then get out of here.
Get into the shadows at the far end of this hallway and wait for Crouch
to walk towards the torture room.
Leave the jail, climb the stairs and return to the dining room. Slip in
under the table then duck out behind the gentleman to pickpocket his
purse (+100 = 1520).
Get back under the table and take Lady
Drakon's Bracelet (+200 = 1720) from her right wrist. Objective complete!
The only other thing of value in here is a china plate (+10 = 1730) at
the north end of the table which you can also grab while underneath the
table. Stick your head out the north end, douse some
torches and shoot a moss arrow on the tile floor between the dining
room carpet and the sitting room. When the way is clear, dart through
and head into the corner on the left, making sure you're not
spotted by the 2 glowing black-armoured guards flanking the study
doors. Douse the fire in the big fireplace then pocket 2 gold jars
(+240 = 1970) that are sitting on the table against the west wall.
Loot objective complete! Climb up onto the
table and take a gold torc (+350 = 2320) that is hanging on the wall
then jump back down into the corner and wait.
Before long, you'll see a guard come running in from the front hallway.
He'll go over to the guards by the study door, have a conversation and
then they'll all run off. He has obviously noticed that
many valuables have gone missing!
Check to make sure the other guards that patrol this area aren't around
then run over to the sitting area in front of the fireplace where
you'll find a gold wine bottle sitting on the table (+50 =
2370) and a gold goblet (+25 = 2395) lying on the carpet under the
table. There are also 2 gold candlesticks (+100 = 2495) sitting on the
piano. Grab the footstool, as it will come in handy in the
study.
Milly
Creep into the study, close the doors and turn around. Drop the stool,
jump up onto it and take the mask (+50 = 2545) hanging above the door.
Turn right into the area occupied by desks and walk to
the one in the southeast corner.
Douse the wall lamp and frob a lever on the base.
You've just found Secret #3! Objective
complete!
Read the papers on the desk and you'll receive a new objective, already
crossed out, to let somebody else save the world. Pick up the pen
holder (+100 = 2645) then head over to the northeast corner
and squeeze into the corner behind the chair.
A pressure plate in the floor will depress and the
chest under the window will open. (The switch on the lamp and this
pressure plate together open the chest.) Inside, you'll find a
mask (+50 = 2695), a green LC Tapestry (+150 = 2845) and a golden skull
(+250 = 3095).
Walk north into the Library and use the footstool to reach the cord
that's hanging down in an alcove on the right. (You'll have to jump a
bit to reach it. You can also push the library ladder over
here, if you prefer.) A secret door will open in the northeast corner.
Walk over towards it but before you go through check out the right-hand
bookshelf. There's a locked cabinet set into the upper
section. Push over the ladder, climb it and pick the cupboard lock.
Inside is a dragon's head statue (+250 = 3245).
Head through the secret door, through a red curtain and into a room
with locked gates that lead out into a huge open space with 2 gigantic
dragon statues in the middle. If you look closely you'll see
Lord Drakon walking around between the two statues and something very
small suspended mid-air between the heads of the statues.
Wait in the shadows for one of the patrolling creatures to come near
the gate and pick the Barred Door key from it.
Push through the centre of the red curtains on the south
side of the room, turn left and walk down a passageway. Use the key you
just took on the lockbox inside the barred door to unlock it.
Enter a room full of machinery, walk to the north wall and you'll see a
hatch set into the wall which might lead to the open area.
Jump up on the pipe in front of it, shimmy along to
the right (E) in behind a big tank. At the end, look for a lever on the
north wall. Flip it then go back to the hatch and now you
can open it.
Climb through, shut the door then walk in behind it and turn right (N).
You'll emerge in the area with the Dragon statues. Turn left and walk
over towards the wooden structure you can see in the distance. Climb up
the stairs to the platform, climb the chain on the left
that has a burrick hanging on it and them jump from it to the chain to
the west that has a man suspended from it. Climb to the top and mantle
up onto the boards above. Walk to the southwest corner
and jump onto the spine of the dragon statue. Carefully inch along the
spur sticking out of the back until you can reach a green gem (+100 =
3345) embedded in the end. (You need to just get close
enough to be able to lean forward and grab it. If you get any closer,
you'll end up falling and taking some damage.) Turn around and walk up
the spine to the head of the statue.
Edge your way out onto one of the horns. Jump and grab Milly from the
air then sit still and watch the show below. Objective
complete! After it's over, jump from the end of
the horn onto the horn of the statue opposite and make your way down
the spine to the spur. Here, you'll find a gold ankh (+50 = 3395).
Now to get back down! You can either jump directly into the middle of
the blood pool that Milly was floating above (This can be pretty tricky
as you have to hit it in exactly the right spot.) or you
can jump back over to the first statue, climb back down and jump over
to the platform. Once you're down, approach the fireball that destroyed
Drakon. It will burn you if you get too close but it
won't attack you. Lean over and pluck a cell key
and Gwendoline's little book from the center of it.
Head over to the big skull on the back of the platform
and approach the face head-on. Either crouch or lean forward, then walk
through the face and you'll see a skeleton lying in the
blood inside. Take the ring (+100 = 3495) from his hand then walk over
to the big gates.
Pick open the lockbox to open the gates, walk straight ahead through
the crack in the centre of the red curtains and back into the Library.
Rescuing Jack
Return to the prison and use the cell key to open up Jack's cell. He'll
spring into action, run into the storage room and use the Power Shield
Potion that you saw earlier, then grab a sword. Just
follow behind him and let him take out the guards for you. At the top
of the stairs, walk straight ahead and through the end door into the
main hall. Watch out as Jack may not engage all the
guards!
On the table opposite the door you'll find a mask (+50 = 3545) and 2
jars (+40 = 3585) then walk around to the north side. Jump up on the
sofa opposite the front doors and take 2 small metal caltrops
(+100 = 3685) from the plaques flanking the banner. Continue east, turn
right at the end and collect a sceptre (+100 = 3785) and 2 jars (+80 =
3865) from a table. Turn right again and walk west. Take
a gold jar (+75 = 3940) from a pedestal on the right then continue
walking past the green sofas and you'll find another gold jar (+75 =
4015).
Return to the green sofas and look south. You'll see Jack waiting for
you. If he's not there yet then just wait for him to arrive. Join him
and he'll tell you to stay back out of the way as he opens
the door for there are probably guards on the other side. Do as he says
and stay in the shadows. He'll dispose of the guards.
Once he has, reach up and take the shield (+100 = 4115) that's mounted
over the door then follow him to the next door. He'll open these as
well and you can follow him through but stay well back as he
battles Harsha or you'll get hurt. Once the battle is done, continue
following him and he'll batter down a forcefield blocking the door to
the East Gatehouse. He then runs to the gatehouse, dropping
his sword on the way and enters, to find his love holding their new
baby. Objective complete! Once you join them,
the mission will end.
